Nordecon will rebuild a 2.25 km road section into 2+2 cross sectional road at the beginning of Tallinn Ring Road

“Reconstruction of Tallinn Ring Road or Estonian National Road 11 will continue during this building season as well – Nordecon is going to reconstruct the very beginning of Tallinn Ring Road – kilometres 0.6-2.8. Currently a III class road will turn into a I class road after the successful execution of the reconstruction work,” said Avo Ambur, Member of the Management Board of Nordecon AS. “Everybody who uses Tallinn Ring Road understands its importance – the aim of the reconstruction work is primarily to decrease traffic load inside the city and in surrounding settlements, to improve traffic throughput and, of course, change transit faster. Tallinn Ring Road also belongs to the Pan-European TENT-T network – Trans European Network-Transport – one of the targets of which is to change already existing roads and utility lines easily usable and efficient.”

According to the agreement, 2.25 kms of Tallinn Ring Road will be reconstructed – it will be rebuilt into a 2+2 cross-sectional road, two new independent flyovers with the length of 100 m will be built instead of the existing Väo railway flyover, Veneküla tunnel will be built under the main road and ca 300 m of jogging and cycling lanes will be built together with the tunnel. A total of 83,000 m2 of asphalt pavement will be laid.

The construction work will be ready at the end of 2018.
