Nordecon finished the construction work of Hüüru public water supply and sewerage piping system

Nordecon recently finished the construction of the public water supply, sewerage piping and sewerage facilities in the Hüüru area and as a result, another 125 households can enjoy a water and sewerage system that meets all requirements. The total cost of the work amounted to 3.12 million euros exclusive of VAT.

“The geographical specifics in the Hüüru area had a notable effect on the construction of the utility lines – at some places, we came across a layer of limestone already at a depth of half a metre and the water level was quite high because of the Vääna River that runs through the village. We also had to work next to the Tallinn-Paldiski highway, where the traffic is very heavy,” said Erkki Suurorg, member of the Management Board of Nordecon AS. “Thanks to the excellent design project that the customer had drawn and the most appropriate work methods that the Nordecon project team selected, we managed to finish the work on time, though. I’m particularly happy that the patience and understanding attitude of local people with regard to the construction work will finally be rewarded properly – now they have the possibility to start using a high quality water supply and sewerage service.”

According to Erkki Suurorg, the construction project covered the laying of water pipes for a total length of 8.7 km, downstream sewerage pipes measuring 6 km, pressure sewer pipes measuring 7.1 km and seven compact pump rooms for wastewater. Two bore wells were drilled too, to the depth of 50 metres and 170 metres respectively, and a new water treatment station with two water tanks was built.

The design and construction works of the public water supply and sewerage piping system were funded by the European Union Cohesion Fund and by Kovek AS who was the customer. The engineer was P.P. Ehitusjärelevalve OÜ.
