“For a long time, the increasingly popular Peetri small town has had a shortage of options for sporting and spending one’s free time,” said Maik Teiv, a member of the management board of Peetri Keskus OÜ. “The two-storey centre shall have sports facilities, stores, food vendors, a pharmacy and other primary level services – so, that all residents of the local community and the visitors would feel welcome there. At the same time, a centre that brings together such services allows for the development of its surrounding infrastructure, thereby making it more comfortable for the local residents to travel on foot, with a bicycle or a car.”
Ando Voogma, a member of the management board of Nordecon AS, said that the project of the Peetri Sports and Leisure Centre is extremely functional. “Since the contracting entity wishes to bring together very diverse facilities in a single building, such a project is a complex, but yet exciting, challenge for us. All of the parts of the building – the commercial areas, tennis courts and other sports halls, beauty salons, etc. – must be functional and intertwine with each other,” said Ando Voogma. “In addition to the centre, we shall finish the construction of the Küti Rd. section up to the Old Tartu Hwy., which ensures that the road users can safely travel on foot as well as by using motor vehicles.”
“The building shall have two storeys, and the area occupied by the building shall be 5,495.5 m2. The closed net surface area of the 10.2-metre-high building shall be 8,182.0 m2. At the same time, a parking lot with 109 parking spots shall be constructed at the centre,” described Ando Voogma.
The construction works shall be carried out at Küti Rd. 4, Peetri Small Town, Rae Rural Municipality. The object is scheduled to be completed on 10 December 2019. The value of the procurement contract is 6,398,800 euros, excl. VAT.
