Leedo, the owner of the Center through his own businesses, said at thelaying of the cornerstonethat he considers the role of the Center as a community center very important. "The Center wants to be very closely connected with the entire Peetri settlement and be part of this community-based whole," said Vjatšeslav Leedo.

Rae rural municipality mayor Mart Võrklaevsaid at the ceremony that Peetri had been waiting for the Center for a long timeand that local people had already set high expectations for it even before the opening. Also, the municipality itself plans to use the center, for example, for renting premises for a youth center. "Cooperation between the private sector and rural municipality is mutually beneficial and, ultimately, yields the best possible result," said Mr.Võrklaev.

Ando Voogma, Member of the Management Board of Nordecon AS, which is building the Center, says that Peetri town and its surroundings are a constantly growing and active community, and it is, therefore, important for them to be able to shop, get the necessary services and spend their leisure time close to home. "What makes it exciting to build Peetri Center is the fact that it has many functions. Commercial spaces, tennis courts, gyms and beauty salons that are mutually compatible and work as a whole," said Voogma. 

According toHasso Ploomipuu, Member of the Supervisory Board of Coop Võru, Peetri Konsum, is so close to the people’s homes that they can conveniently buy good food and essential goods at reasonable prices. "We will open a cafe for the Peetri people, which will be a cozy place particularly for children and families," said Ploomipuu.

The Peetri Community Center being established at Küti roadwill offer essential services, for which the residents will no longer need to travel to major centers in other municipalities. According toMaik Teiv, the Head of CompaktReal Estate managing the Center, the Center will be a friendly community center of Peetri town. "The main criterion for choosing the occupants of Peetri Center was their willingness and readiness to operate in Peetri and for the people of Peetri," said Teiv.

The Center will accommodate, for example, the Rae Municipality Youth Center, a singing studio, a children’s studio, a tennis school, speech therapists, a family physician, dentistry, pharmacy, a beauty salon, and a gym. COOP Konsum and a cafe will also provide pure domestic food at the Center’s shops and cafe.

Peetri Center was designed by Sirkel & Mall, it is being built by AS Nordecon, and developed by Compakt Real Estate. The Center will be opened before the end of next year.
