„Haabersti intersection is one of the most dangerous and overloaded intersections in Tallinn, where traffic jams are regular. Reconstruction of this intersection has been waited for years,“ said member of the management board of Nordecon AS Avo Ambur. „We start construction activities in April and already in May 2018 we will be able to open the overpass of Paldiski Road (i.e. on Tallinn-Keila direction) completely for the traffic. The entire intersection will be completed in October 2018. The new Haabersti intersection will increase essentially the possible number of passing vehicles and will be smoother than the current situation.“
For the period of construction it is planned that 1+1 lanes are ensured for road users during the entire construction process in every direction and at every time. „When we start the construction activities, we ask to take account of the fact that construction may cause larger traffic jams than usual. In turn, we provide operative notifications of any possible changes, to enable the drivers to choose alternative routes, if necessary,“ said Avo Ambur.
Work will cover the following areas:
- Construction of the two-level intersection of Paldiski Road, Rannamõisa Street and Ehitajate Street;
- Construction of Paldiski Road in extent of 1.05 km (from the intersection of Mõisa Street to 150 m after the intersection of Õismäe Street);
- Construction of Rannamõisa Street in extent of 1.1 km (until the intersection of Vana-Rannamõisa Street);
- Construction of Ehitajate Street in extent of 100 m.
