Nordecon to take yachtsman Karl-Martin Rammo to Rio

Today, Nordecon AS entered into a cooperation agreement with Karl-Martin Rammo, one of Estonia’s top sportsmen in sailing. The aim of the cooperation is to help Karl-Martin Rammo achieve the best results at the 2016 Olympic Games and thereby encourage more young people to go in for sports and set high goals. Nordecon will support Rammo with 20,000 EUR over four years.

“It is not always possible for Estonia to support all of our talented sportsmen to the limit and private entrepreneurs can give a hand here,” said Jaano Vink, chairman of the Management Board of Nordecon AS. “We see Karl-Martin Rammo as a strong sportsman who could achieve a lot at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, at the same time it should be borne in mind that literally speaking, Estonia has made itself known to the world to a great extent thanks to our successful sportsmen.”

“The more sponsors and varied training opportunities an athlete has, the greater are their chance to reach the top. It does not matter how talented a sportsman is, unless they have the proper conditions. I do hope that Karl-Martin and Nordecon would be able to draw more attention to yachting at the next Olympics and with our purposeful work we will strive for the maximum – an Olympic medal,” Jaano Vink added.

“I’m a maximalist and if I was not sure that I’m able to win an Olympic medal, I would probably do something else in my life,” stated Karl-Martin Rammo.  “I see a lot of potential in myself and with the proper preparations I will be able to reach this goal. In Estonia, I can train only for 5 or so months, this however would not be enough for me to reach the top; training camps and competitions abroad are of help, but they are very expensive too. Now that Nordecon will provide me with stable support for the next four years, I can focus more on important things, train in camps more and take part in more regattas. I believe that their support will help me take a big step closer to my goal and provide stability as I would be able to train properly during the entire cycle.”

Egon Mats, commodore of Tallinn Yacht Club said that finding a new sponsor is of huge help to the talented sportsman who has already reached the top ranks of yachtsmen in the world. “This stable support will provide opportunities and security for continuing in this field with confidence. It is also a very strong motivator for Rammo in achieving his goals, which are very high – to get a medal at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. With every world-class result sportsmen will promote and advertise their country many times more than with any publicity campaign.”
