Nordecon will support Tartu’s SK Duo volleyball club with a total of 45,000 euros over the next three years in order to expand sports activities in the university town and promote volleyball both as a form of recreational and competitive sport.
Under the cooperation agreement, Nordecon AS will support SC Duo Sports NPO in the volleyball seasons of 2014, 2015 and 2016 with 14,000 euros, 15,000 euros and 16,000 euros, respectively.
“Builders and volleyball players alike have to operate in very narrow conditions in a confined area, where teamwork, efficient planning, strong nerves and constantly changing situations requiring quick reaction matter a lot. It’s always a pleasure to see someone who acts with the same passion as you do and over the years, the activities of SC Duo have proven that the club is able to both build basic human values in its work with children and offer great emotions in top-level sports,” said Jaano Vink, chairman of the Management Board of Nordecon AS. “To date, Nordecon has supported volleyball in Tartu for six years and we are pleased to do this over the next three years, as well.”
Raivo Simson, president of SC Duo Sports NPO, said that it would be impossible for sports clubs to carry on without sponsors and enthusiasts in the respective fields and this long-term agreement would also provide a sense of security for the future. “It is thanks to the sponsors that SC Duo has managed to gain a firm footing in the local volleyball landscape – our representative team is currently the leader of the Estonian-Latvian joint league and our volleyball guys of different age groups have put on good performances in the last championships and cups. This season we added a team of young players to the Estonian premier league so that the last milestone in their development into top volleyball players would be completed.”
The representative team of SC Duo (www.skduo.ee) plays under the name BIGBANK Tartu, and formerly it was known as Tartu Pere Leib. SC Duo has trained young volleyball players since 2005. At present, 100 boys and 50 girls attend practices and they participate in the title competitions organised by the Estonian Volleyball Federation in all age groups. The club employs five volleyball coaches. The best-known trainees of SC Duo are Oliver Venno and Kristo Kollo.
