Nordecon AS has completed the construction of the public waterworks and district heating facilities of Assaku, Jüri and Vaida boroughs, with a total cost of 4.94 million euros. Additionally the waste water treatment plant of Vaida borough was reconstructed, with a cost of 2.79 euros.
“Yet another area in Estonia has now a modern water and sewer system, which pleases the local residents and also the municipality. Nordecon was pleased to be the builder of these facilities, that were constructed in several stages,” said Nordecon AS board member Erkki Suurorg. “In addition to supplying adequate drinking water, the completed new waterworks and waste water treatment plant also reduce the environmental impact, which in turn has a positive effect on the whole living environment, Pirita River and Lake Ülemiste.”
Meelis Kasemaa, the contractor of the construction works and a board member of the Rae Parish water company AS Elvesto, said, that today, as the works on the last construction stage have been completed, can be considered the final stage of this six-year-long water management project of Rae Parish, costing altogether approximately 15 million euros. “The construction works have provided more than 7200 residents with the possibility of access to drinking water, that meets all the requirements and more than 2000 residents now have the possibility to use the public sewerage system. It’s also beneficial, that during the laying of the water and sewage pipelines we also managed to repair the district heating networks of Assaku, Jüri and Vaida boroughs.”
During this project in Rae Parish, Nordecon AS constructed different pipelines from March 2012 until April 2013. The planning of the waste water treatment plant began in November 2011 and the construction of the plant was completed by the end of the year 2012. A total of 1 km of district heating piping, 11 km of water piping, 6.5 km of gravity-flow and 5 km of pressurised sewage piping was installed. During the construction works, also 8 compact sewage pump stations, 2 water treatment plants (in Vaida and Jüri) and 2 borehole pumping stations were constructed.
At the same time, according to a separate design and construction contract, Nordecon AS built a new waste water treatment plant in Vaida borough with considerable perspective-power (4100 IE), that also includes a tumbler-composter, enabling a resolution for the residual sludge problem of nearby waste water treatment plants through composting.
