On Monday, Nordecon AS concluded a contract with the rural municipality government of Rae as the main contractor for the designing and construction works of Järveküla School. The cost of the basic school to be built in Peetri small town will be 8.88 million euros before value added tax.
“Contractors are happy about winning any procurements of a significant volume of work as there is currently tight competition in the construction market – this was also confirmed by the high number of those interested in building Järveküla School,” said Avo Ambur, Board Member of Nordecon AS. “Also, the number of contracts offered in the area of public buildings is not high, rather on the contrary. Construction of a brand new schoolhouse, however, is a completely rare phenomenon in Estonia at this point, taking into consideration the processes occurring on the educational landscape here. Therefore, I would also like to acknowledge the local municipality for their desire and ability to take such a step.”
According to Avo Ambur, the gross surface area of the school building to be erected on the corner of Ruti Road and Vana-Tartu Road in Peetri small town will be 14,798 square metres. In the course of the construction works, a school building, swimming pool and sports premises will be constructed of three sections connected to one another. The planned duration of the designing and construction works is 11 months.
Madis Sarik, Deputy Rural Municipality Mayor of Rae Parish, said that the newest school in Rae Parish will be similar to educational institutions characteristic to Nordic countries – both with respect to the architectural style as well as the breakdown of rooms. “The building will be multifunctional, which means that it will be constructed for both high-quality teaching as well as for providing the people in the area a place to practice sports and spend their leisure time. There will be room for three parallel classes within each year group, the pupils and school personnel will have a fully modern school environment that meets all needs at their disposal. On the second floor of the building complex, there will also be room for the premises of Rae Hobby School,” he added.
