Nordecon completes pipeline construction work in Saku village

Nordecon AS has completed construction work on public water and sewerage structures and district heating pipelines in Zone II of the village of Saku on schedule.

“The reconstruction of the water, sewerage and heating utilities in Saku proved a real challenge for our team, so we’re really pleased to have finished it all on time,” said Erkki Suurorg, a member of the board of Nordecon AS. “Projects that require you to be solving things and deciding on things and acting on things on the go only work out the way they’re meant to if everyone pitches in. So as the builders we’d like to thank the client, Saku Maja AS, as well as the municipal government and the supervisory group, Infragate Eesti AS, for helping everything go so smoothly. And of course our thanks go out to everyone in the area for their patience and understanding while we were working there! We set out to provide Saku with clean water and efficient heating using modern systems that will see them through the next few decades, and that’s what we’ve done.”

“Zone II now has brand new pipelines, and for that matter a brand new look, thanks to the hard work that everyone’s put in,” said Marko Matsalu, director of Saku Maja AS. “What particularly pleased us as the client in working with the builders was that they didn’t constantly look for the cheapest way out just to save on costs – they were focussed on achieving exactly what they set out to do. So our thanks to Nordecon for the excellent work they’ve done, as well as to Saku municipal government, and of course to the Environmental Investment Centre, which financed the project.”

More than 370 drinking water and sewerage connection points were established during construction, which required the laying of 23 km of pipeline and the erecting of four waste water pumping stations and a water control node. Almost 2 km of district heating pipeline was also renovated in the area of the Kannikese boiler house.
Construction work on the project was financed via the European Union’s Cohesion Fund and by Saku Maja AS. Design work was completed by AS Kommunaalprojekt, with supervision provided by Infragate Eesti AS. The total cost of the work inclusive of VAT was 3.7 million euros.

Under the aegis of Saku municipal government and with additional financing, new roads complete with communications utilities were also constructed in Zone II in the village in parallel with the work on the pipelines, significantly improving the living environment in the area.
