Nordecon delivered a newly completed Juuliku-Tabasalu connecting road to the Road Administration two weeks before the contractual deadline. During the construction works a new railway overpass was installed in the II construction area of the Top intersection in 48 hours, by a method used for the first time in the Baltic States.
“The most innovative part in the construction works of the road section, which was officially opened to traffic at the beginning of last week, was the construction and installation of a railway overpass by a method that was not previously used in Estonia or in the Baltic States. By using this new technology, a concrete bridge structure of 325 tonnes at the intersection of Top was moved to its design position in 48 hours, when the railway traffic on the Tallinn-Keila line was closed, “ said Erkki Suurorg, the board member of Nordecon AS. “Thanks to a very well-thought construction everything turned out well and the construction works of the Juuliku-Keila connecting road were completed almost two weeks before the deadline.”
According to Erkki Suurorg, Nordecon will use the similar engineering method in the installation of the railway overpass at the V construction area of the western detour of Tartu where the road section leading to the Lennuvälja intersection will be renovated.
At the II construction area of Top intersection a 31 metres long railway overpass was constructed on the Tallinn-Keila line and about a kilometre of highway and cycle and pedestrian track were built. Additionally, a roundabout, almost three kilometres of utility networks, new street lighting, and about two kilometres of piping were constructed.
