Nordecon completed the construction of six family homes at the special care village in Raba Street, Tõrva. The construction, which began last March, was commissioned by AS Hoolekandeteenused and the price of the facilities amounted to a total of 2.9 million euros.
“I’m very happy that Nordecon and its subsidiary Eston Ehitus have had the chance to contribute to the development of special care villages that meet every modern requirement in several locations around Estonia, as this is an area of life that needed and still needs to be developed even further”, said Alo Tamm, Construction Director at Nordecon AS. “Every individual has the right to an inhabitable environment and we as builders can contribute to it within our capacity. I do hope that people with special needs and their caregivers will quickly feel at home in their new houses.”
Alo Tamm said that in addition to the recently finished homes in Tõrva, Nordecon and its subsidiary AS Eston Ehitus have together built 21 homes at five care homes since 2011 with a total value of more than eight million euros exclusive of VAT. The construction of another six homes in Türi is still in progress and the total cost of these is 2.4 million euros exclusive of VAT.
“In Tõrva, Nordecon and Eston Ehitus have managed to successfully put into practice their former experience in building similar special care villages. The fact that the work was performed ahead of the contractual deadline demonstrates the constructor’s professionalism in the planning and management of the construction work. To work with such a contractor and to be assured of the quality of the work is significantly easier for a customer," said Ivo Lepasaar, ERFD project manager at AS Hoolekandeteenused.
The houses built in Tõrva have two wings – both meant for five customers and featuring a storage space, washroom and toilet. All rooms have been adapted to people with special needs. The home also features a room for staff and a spacious living room furnished with modern kitchen appliances. Thanks to the fast pace of the work the houses were finished a month and a half ahead of the deadline.
The family village provides up-to-date living conditions and activities for 60 people with special psychiatric needs. Family homes in Tõrva are part of the three-year project designed for the reorganisation of special care facilities. In the frame of the project, AS Hoolekandeteenused builds modern dwellings for people with special needs in 11 locations around Estonia with the support of the European Regional Development Fund. A total of 55 family homes for ten people will be built and the total cost of the project is over 26 million euros.
