Nordecon AS has completed by the deadline the construction of new water supply and sewerage piping network, the pumps and the wastewater treatment facility in the small town of Kadrina. The cost of the construction work was 1.65 million euros, plus VAT.
“It was complicated because we actually had to update the existing and functioning deep-well pumps and wastewater treatment facility. The work of rebuilding the wastewater treatment facility had to be conducted without interrupting the treatment process so that the small town could continue getting the water volume it needs,” said Erkki Suurorg, Member of the Management Board of Nordecon AS. “At some points along the way the sewerage pipes had to be laid in the ground at 5 meters and deeper and we also met the challenge of passing the piping under a nationally important highway without dismantling its surface. Despite the complicated characteristics of the site we coped fine and finished all work by the deadline. Kadrina residents now have a guaranteed supply of quality drinking water, with wastewater treatment performed in compliance with all the applicable requirements.”
According to Erkki Suurorg, all construction work at the site is now finished but planting greenery and complete restoration of the road surfaces will have to be postponed until spring sets in.
Contracted by Kadrina Soojus AS, Nordecon rebuilt the small town’s wastewater treatment facility and upgraded three deep-well pumps to second-level water treatment plants. A total of some 4.5 km of water supply and sewerage piping was added or rebuilt, with 820 metres of sewerage service routes constructed. The functioning of the wastewater treatment facility with the accompanying water treatment plants can now be controlled and monitored from the new control centre.
The work of design and construction of water supply and sewerage structures as part of the water management project for the Kadrina small town wastewater collection area was commissioned by Kadrina Soojus AS, a company owned by the Kadrina rural municipality. Construction supervision was performed by Vealeidja OÜ.
Th work of design and construction of water supply and sewerage structures for the small town of Kadrina was financed with the aid of the Cohesion Fund of the European Union.
