According to VitaliBorodin, Deputy Mayor of Kohtla-Järve, the inhabitants of the city have been waiting for the sports and health centre for years. ‘I am very glad that we can finally begin with the construction. The planning and procurement took some time, but we are glad to announce to the inhabitants of both the city and county that in two years, they can swim, play tennis, take part in aerobics trainings, and practice other sports at the Kohtla-Järve Sports and Health Centre,’ Borodin added.
‘All of Estonia should have great conditions for playing sports: it is important for adults, but even more so for children and young people. The Kohtla-Järve Sports and Health Centre is intended for use by inhabitants of the city as well as people living elsewhere in the county – for both everyday exercise and organising competitions,’ said AndoVoogma, Member of the Management Board of Nordecon AS. ‘A modern sports centre must be convenient and functional for visitors as well as trainers and employees – It is also important for buildings as large as this one to be built according to current knowledge and standards to ensure a more energy-efficient operation and maintenance at a lower cost.’
The Kohtla-Järve Sports and Health Centre will have three floors above ground as well as a basement. The total net area of the first stage of construction is 13,853.8 m2. The building will have a ten-lane 25-metre swimming pool with grandstands, dressing rooms, a children’s pool, a gym with dressing rooms, a shop, sports halls for tennis and warm-up swimming, a trainers’ room, aerobics halls, a cloakroom, and dressing rooms and showers with saunas. The building will also house a café, galleries, a children’s room, and utility rooms.
