The Concrete Association of Estonia announced the winner of the Concrete Structure of the Year 2011 contest to be the acoustic sculpture “Cromatico” situated in the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds and built by Nordecon Betoon in cooperation with the German acoustic artist Lukas Kühne and HC Betoon. The structure was designed by Rosario Nuin.

The first award went to the sculptor Lukas Kühne, designer of "Cromatico", the engineering award to Andrei Kervalichvili (Nordecon Betoon OÜ), the building award to Nordecon Betoon OÜ and the concrete supplying award to HC Betoon AS.

The acoustic sculpture “Cromatico” is a visualisation of the chromatic musical scale, consisting of 12 concrete chambers. Each concrete chamber of the acoustic structure resounds at a different pitch. This experiential and didactic sculpture is like a journey through the twelve notes of an octave, from Fa to Mi, but in a physical space. Entering this work of art singing, visitors can experience its space through different frequencies reflected by it.

According to Aadu Kana, chairman of the jury, Estonia is lucky to have this acoustic sculpture unique in the whole world, which was born out of the flash of an idea of Lukas Kühne and Mikko Fritze and was executed with the enthusiastic assistance of the concrete specialist Mait Rõõmusaare (Nordecon Betoon OÜ). It is also noteworthy that the project was, for the most part, a pro bono effort in which all concerned parties participated with sincere devotion and for the greater good.
